SPECIFICATIONS SPECIALIST Opportunity: For detail oriented design professionals to establish and develop their expertise in technical writing and editing as specialist to the Sr. VP of Architecture/Interior Design for Hixson, a Cincinnati-based architecture, engineering and interior design firm. This key role will assist and learn from the Sr. Specifications Writer on a track to ultimately assume full responsibility. Requires someone with a strong interest, dedication and desire to produce quality specifications necessary for turning designs into well-built structures. Position: Reports directly to the Sr. VP, Architecture/Interior Design, with dotted line responsibility to the Senior Architect, Specifications. Utilizes excellent research and analytical skills in preparing architectural project specifications, maintaining office master files, updating specification reports and overseeing the architectural library. Additional responsibilities include researching materials and methods, making recommendations to the production of completed documents and specifications. This position will proactively interact with the architecture, project management and engineering teams. Candidate: BA, architecture/engineering and 3-5 years of relevant experience required. Keen eye for detail; exceptional English/grammar, proofreading and editing skills. Deep understanding of a range of materials and systems; a ready resource of construction information. Proficiency in MS Word. Proven self starter with the ability to manage time and work priorities independently.
