Hixson invests 1.5 percent of its gross revenues and the time and talent of its team in community and industry philanthropic initiatives each year. With a special focus on education, community rehabilitation and the arts, here’s a snapshot of how we creatively give back.
Teacher of the Year
Since 1991, Hixson has sponsored the Teacher of the Year Award, which is presented annually to a current teacher of a Hixson associate’s child or grandchild. More than $125,000 has been awarded to date.
Partners in Education
Hixson is a longtime partner of the St. Francis de Sales School. Associates volunteer for a variety of programs throughout the school year, including Traveling Bears, which provides each first-grade student with a special bear that “sends” postcards from its journeys throughout the year; a pen pal program with second grade students to further develop their writing skills; Junior Achievement; and job shadowing.
Hixson Arts Fund
Our arts funding program provides associate donations and a Hixson corporate donation directly to nine arts programs serving the Greater Cincinnati region, including the Cincinnati Art Museum, the Cincinnati Opera, the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, the May Festival, Playhouse in the Park, the Cincinnati Ballet, Taft Museum of Art, the Contemporary Arts Center and the Children’s Theatre of Cincinnati.
People Working Cooperatively
For more than 17 years, Hixson associates have volunteered with People Working Cooperatively, a non-profit organization serving low-income elderly and disabled homeowners in the Greater Cincinnati region. We provide home repair and clean-up assistance through two primary events, Prepare Affair and Repair Affair.
United Way of Greater Cincinnati
Hixson associates have supported the United Way of Greater Cincinnati for more than 20 years, helping further its mission of improving lives within neighborhoods and communities across the region.
Hixson associates apply their creativity to Cincinnati Canstruction, an annual event where competing teams from the architecture, engineering and construction community build larger-than-life themed structures from canned goods to support Freestore Foodbank.
Additional Regional Partnerships
Hixson associates also participate in the Architectural Foundation of Cincinnati Design LAB, Easter Seals Tri-State, the CET Action Auction, the Hoxworth Blood Center Mobile Drive and more.
