Process Facility Renovations
Madison, WI

Introduction of a new continuous processing technology enabled the client to achieve enhanced product quality, throughput and cost reduction.

Existing conditions at this older plant provided significant challenges. A multi-story renovation was further complicated by the need to maintain continuous operations. Food safety and employee safety were paramount. The potential for microbial contamination was high and the existing utility infrastructure was at capacity.

A strong Hixson team generated creative solutions to optimize all operational areas (cooking, packaging, cooler, CIP, etc.). Elevated construction entrances enabled production to continue without disruption. Separation of raw from ready-to-eat (RTE) in packaging, product and people flow assures the integrity of product quality. The ammonia system was redistributed to optimize capacity, and the electrical, piping and utility runs were consolidated to improve sanitary conditions and support new manufacturing technology.
