“Shedding a Light on Hunger” in Cincinnati

Contributing creatively to the communities in which we live and work is a core value at Hixson. As part of this commitment, Hixson is proud to once again participate in CANstruction with our entry, “Shedding a Light on Hunger.” Just like Batman receives calls for help from the Bat Signal, our entry reminds us that we all need to remember to answer the call to help the hungry in our region.

The Hixson team, comprised of 12 Hixson associates representing multiple disciplines within the firm, has been meeting since late November to design and organize the entry. The theme of “Shedding a Light on Hunger” was selected as the result of team charrettes and discussions. The entire structure consists of a wall that displays a flood light projecting the Freestore FoodBank logo over the Cincinnati skyline. The structurally eye-catching sculpture required nearly 4,500 cans of black beans, tomatoes, corn, chili, and tuna to create.

Displays will be up at various locations throughout the city through the end of April.
