A New Associate Walk-a-Mile Report
As mentioned in our October 5 blog entry, Walk-a-Miles are one way for associates to use their 40 hours of personal development time allotted each calendar year. While all associates engage in Walk-a-Miles, newer associates find them particularly helpful to understanding the real-world implications of their designs. For example, a Hixson associate who has been with the firm for just over a year recently visited with a client in the Eastern U.S. to gain a more in-depth understanding of existing conditions at the plant. “I was able to observe ventilation, heating, and steam components up close, which will help me visualize these components during future design projects,” reported the associate. “The additional field experience that I gained will help me to know what to expect and how to spot issues as they occur.”
