Great Place to Work: Welcoming New Associates

Recently, Hixson announced that we have been named as a Great Place to Work® by the Great Place to Work Institute. This award was received based on the input on a confidential survey of Hixson’s 130 associates.

In today’s post, we are looking at one of the key results from the survey: 99% of our associates said that “when you join the company, you are made to feel welcome.”

From the moment a new Hixson associate arrives at our location here in the beautiful Cincinnati neighborhood of Mt. Adams, we strive to make their entry into our firm as smooth as possible. All new associates (and other visitors!) are greeted warmly at the door by our beginningist.* After introductions to their fellow department teammates, new associates then meet with their assigned mentor: This person plays the critical role of helping new associates assimilate into our unique culture, answering any and all questions about our firm, how things work around here, etc.  New associates are then given a complete tour of our facility, meeting members of other departments as they travel through.  Finally, new associates are also introduced at the next Towne Meeting!

*Some may call this role a receptionist, but at Hixson, we believe that this person, as the first person who will greet you upon arrival, is with whom your journey begins; hence, a “beginningist!”
